6th Annual Child Health Conference (MCHC)
The McMaster Child Health planning team is so excited to announce our 6th Annual Child Health Conference (MCHC), which will be held on March 13-14th, 2021!
This year we invite the McMaster and Hamilton community to explore the theme “Growing Up During COVID-19: Challenges, Changes, and Community”. Attendees will be asked to consolidate their experiences with the pandemic, current research, and stories from community-based partners to learn about how COVID-19 has affected children mentally and physically. We hope to spark discussion about how COVID-19 could impact children in the present and future, and what we can do as a community to support children during this time.
Founded in 2016 by a group of BHSc students, the McMaster Child Health Conference is an annual research symposium that aims to integrate academics with practical experience by sparking discussion between student delegates, faculty, professionals, and researchers who work with children. We believe that it is our collective responsibility to ensure that all children receive the best possible start in life. This begins with inspiring you, the student community, the professionals, policymakers, and parents of tomorrow. Each year, our team of students passionate about child health and development work to put on a conference that emulates these beliefs and this year is no exception!
This year, the McMaster Child Health Conference will be held via Zoom on March 13-14th from 9:30-1:30 EST. We have an exciting two days planned! Our keynote speaker this year is Dr. Andrea Gonzalez. She will be discussing her work on the Ontario Parent Survey, specifically touching on how COVID-19 has influenced families and children, and any suggestions she has for services, families, and caregivers for dealing with the current lockdown. We also have 11 workshop leaders and panelists who will be facilitating discussions surrounding various topics related to children and COVID-19 including food security, advocacy of children’s perspectives, and the developmental impact of COVID-19.
We would love to have you join us as we explore and learn about such an important topic right now.
