In his valedictory address, Owen emphasized the value of kindness and compassion, both for others and for one’s self.  “I remember arriving at McMaster University four years ago, my eyes wide with wonder,” he said.  “Today, we are all walking away with degrees in our hands, but more than giving us some of the finest education in the world, McMaster has given us moments of play, excitement and discovery that will stick with us forever.”

The President’s Award of Excellence in Student Leadership recognized Owen’s contributions as co-editor of the student journal The Meducator, his contributions as a varsity athlete on the fencing team, and his leadership in establishing the McMaster Stem Cell Club.

The Governor General’s Academic Medal recognizes outstanding academic achievement, and was presented to Phelopeter Sedrak.

Congratulations to Owen and Phelo, and best wishes in the next steps in your journey!
